How do I use Annie Sloan Soft Wax?
When you apply the wax, ‘push’ it into your Chalk Paint for the best results. Think hand cream – and apply it in the same way! Remove excess wax with a clean cloth.
Less is more, so there’s no need to apply wax too thickly. The wax will feel touch-dry immediately after you’ve applied it.
Work small areas at a time, so the wax doesn’t dry before you get to work it in.
Push Dark Soft Wax into crevices, and use your Annie Sloan brush.
How do I wash my brushes?
Wash your Annie Sloan Pure Bristle Brush well with warm water after painting to rinse out all the colour. You can also use your Pure Bristle Brush to apply Soft Wax, too. Simply wash it with warm water and grease-cutting soap to clean
What is Chalk Paint®?
is very easy to work with. It very rarely requires any preparation, such as sanding or priming, and can be used indoors or outside, on just about any surface – from wood to metal, and matt plastic to terracotta. It can revitalise old furniture, walls, ceilings and floors with ease. It’s easy, fun and makes amazing results accessible to everyone. With a colour palette inspired by 18th and 20th Century decor and design, you can easily mix the colours together to extend the range. Chalk Paint® is eco-friendly too. It contains extremely low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and has no odor. Add a little water to it to make it smooth, thicken it up by leaving the lid off, make it into a wash by adding even more water. Use flat brushes for a smooth look or bristle brushes for a more textured aged look. Gorgeous results have never been so simple and straightforward. Was

How do I bring out the grain in oak Chalk Paint®?
Revealing the Grain in Oak Apply Chalk Paint®, the unique decorative paint by Annie Sloan. You may need to add a little water – by brushing it into the wood working every way to make certain it goes into the grain of the oak. Wipe off the excess several times until you have achieved the look you are after. The first wiping will give it a translucent stain but if you wipe again he wood will look more like a limed oak with the paint just in the grain. Old White, Pure and Duck Egg Blue are good colours for this effect.
How do I extend the tange of Chalk Paint® colours?
Adding Old White.
We have 32* colours in the Chalk Paint® range from soft and pale to bright and strong. Annie Sloan’s carefully selected range of colours is hugely flexible as you can mix colours together to extend the range and create endless possibilities. If you want to make a colour paler then you can add Old White or Pure. (Old White will help make the colour vintage and Pure will make the colour more modern) Find out roughly the ratio of what you want either by experimenting – use your finger maybe to dab and mix or by looking on the individual pages on this web site by clicking on the paint swatches. For a small amount of paint you can use a big spoon or for larger amounts use a cup. Two dollops of Old White to one dollop of Provence is a ratio of 2 to 1 making a lovely soft pale slightly aged turquoise like old faded French shutters. Use Pure and the colour is cleaner and fresher, more vintage 1950s! * Depending on which country you live in the number of colours in the range differs. We make our paint in two countries – England and the USA.
